Thanksgiving Events in Bedford County

The holidays are approaching, and this means it’s a time to be with family and friends. You might be looking for some places to go in November leading up to Thanksgiving. Fortunately, there’s always something to do in the area, whether you’re looking to shop, enjoy a festival, or just relax.

What’s going to be happening around Thanksgiving in Bedford County this year? Several events are happening in November that you and the family might enjoy. Below are a couple of the options available happening around the county.

Smith Mountain Lake Farmer’s Market

Vittone Farms in Moneta, VA is holding a farmer’s market each Saturday from November 6th to the 20th. The market begins at 10 a.m. and goes on until 2 p.m. You can head to the market and buy locally produced food and produce, which you can use for your Thanksgiving dinner. You will also find a range of arts and crafts available at the market to Smith Mountain Lake.

The Holiday Market

On November 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can celebrate the start of the holiday season at the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Market. Although it’s billed as a Christmas Holiday Market, it’s the perfect run-up to Thanksgiving, and you might find some nice gifts while you have a great time. It features more than 75 artisans, food trucks, and live entertainment. You can bring along the little ones to see Santa.

What to Do After Thanksgiving Dinner

After your Thanksgiving meal, you might want to head out for a walk in the brisk weather to work off some of those calories. You could head to one of the nearby parks, such as Liberty Lake Park with some friends and family. By the time you’ve finished with your walk, you’ll be ready for seconds or some pumpkin pie.

Take a Drive or a Run

In addition to Bedford County, you can also head to some nearby locations. Roanoke, for example, has some fun events, as well. One that you might want to consider will be the 5K Group Turkey Walk, which will be held on November 27 from 6:45 a.m. to 8 a.m., starting at Bonsack Baptist Preschool & Aftercare on Cloverdale Road in Roanoke.

What are you going to be doing with your family this holiday season? Will you be sitting around the house and enjoying a meal while watching some football, or will you head out and about to take in the natural beauty and the great places to shop?
