Thanksgiving Events in Bedford County

Are you looking forward to getting together with your friends and family this Thanksgiving? Whether you are having your meal catered, or you are taking the more traditional route and cooking, it’s a popular holiday to gather with your loved ones and take some time to think about all of the good things and blessings you’ve had this year. You will also find that there are some great things to do in Bedford County, VA this time of the year. Let’s take a look.

Maybe you don’t want to cook. There are open restaurants that could provide a meal for you and your family, or you could head a short drive away to Roanoke for the Grand Thanksgiving Buffet Celebration at The Regency Room at 110 Shenandoah Ave. NE. It’s held from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You may also want to have Thanksgiving dinner a little early, so you can then head out for a nice walk to burn off some of those calories—and make room for more pumpkin pie. You could take a walk along Smith Mountain Lake, for example. It’s a beautiful location and there are plenty of places to walk, such as the beach or the Smith Mountain Lake Community Park.

You will also find some great places to shop either before Thanksgiving or the day after in downtown Bedford, as well as some of the other towns throughout the county. Shopping at these smaller locations will beat the Black Friday blues, so you don’t have to face the massive crowds at some of the other larger stores. It might even be time to start shopping for your Christmas tree, as the holiday is just around the corner.

Finally, consider that Thanksgiving shouldn’t just be about being thankful for what you have… it should be about helping those who are less fortunate. The Rescue Mission of Roanoke Drumstick Dash will be held on Thanksgiving in nearby Roanoke, VA. This is a 5K run and family walk that helps the Rescue Mission to provide meals to those in need throughout the year. Tickets for the event start at $25.00. It’s a fun time, and you get to burn off some calories even before you sit down to your dinner.

As you can see, there are some wonderful things to keep you and your family happy and occupied during Thanksgiving this year.

The Realty Group Team wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
