The Christmas Classic 5K happens on December 3 and will be located at the Bedford Baptist Church at 1516 Oakwood Street. Your friends and family might want to show up for the event and even take part. You can also opt for just a one-mile route if you choose.
Beginning on December 3 is the Festival of Trees at the Bedford Area Welcome Center, located at 816 Burks Hill Road. This is an annual event that takes place through the first week of January. The event will feature Christmas trees that have been decorated by organizations and businesses in the area. The theme this year is “Sounds of Christmas”, so you should expect some nice holiday music when you visit.
December 3 is a busy time in Bedford for Christmas, as this is also when the Christmas parade will be held in the downtown area. You can see a range of floats, as well as marching bands, horses, and antique cars in the parade. The theme for this event, “Sounds of Christmas” coincides with the Festival of Trees. The parade will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the tree lighting will be at 3 p.m. The tree lighting will have Santa, cider, hot chocolate, and plenty of kid’s activities. These festivities will last until 6 p.m.
In the Smith Mountain Lake area, you can experience the 2nd Annual Christmas Market at the Stables. It takes place from Friday, December 2 through Sunday, December 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. This event helps to support local small businesses, and you can find a wide range of different items to buy including candles, clothes, jewelry, soap, crafts, and even some delicious food. It is held at 9945 Brooks Mill Road in nearby Wirtz. Admission to the event is free.
